Our Team
Our team comprises 7 permanent members, including 6 partners living in Toulouse and Montpellier (France), Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Brussels (Belgium) and Brighton (UK). Despite the geographical distance, we work closely together on a daily basis.
We offer a wide range of specialisations, both academic and professional, in sustainable energy, business management and economics and engineering. We are all fluent in at least English and French.
Our permanent team is supported by a large network of more than 200 international and local associated experts, who can be mobilised as needed.
Samuel MARTIN
MARGE Managing director and Policy Development Expert
Partner of MARGE since 2017, Samuel becomes Managing Director in 2020. He has 20 years of professional experience in the promotion of renewable energy, energy access and energy efficiency. A specialist in rural electrification and wood energy, with a focus on institutional and policy issues, he has worked on 3 continents (Africa, Asia and South America). His experience extends to consultancies, NGOs, research centres and the United Nations. In this context, he has developed, implemented and evaluated projects to improve access to energy in developing countries, dealing with institutional, technical and financial elements. He has also been actively involved in energy efficiency projects in the industrial sector. Since 2001, Samuel has lived in different countries in Asia and Africa. He currently resides in Burkina Faso.
Master in Mechanical Engineering (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne – EPFL – Switzerland), and Post Graduate Diploma in Technology and Sustainable Development (Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, India).

Maurice PIGAHT
Project Development Expert
Partner of MARGE since 2013, Maurice is a consultant, business coach, trainer, financial advisor, and energy policy expert with 20 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector in developing markets. He has worked for a wide range of companies, project developers, government agencies and development agencies in over 20 countries in the EU and Africa. Maurice’s work aims to promote economically viable activities in the energy sector to promote sustainable economic development. He brings together a unique blend of expertise in project development, organisational psychology, engineering and financing. Maurice is fluent in English, German, French, and Spanish. His recent clients include the EU, GIZ, KfW and private sector companies.
Master in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) from Imperial College, London. Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Open University, UK. Master in Experimental Psychology (MSc) from the University of Sussex , UK.

Juan Garcia Montes
Expert in Renewable energy and Project Development
Juan recently joined MARGE as senior consultant on Renewable energy. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in the energy sector as entrepreneur, project developer, country manager and project manager. Previous to MARGE he was the CEO of Sunkofa Energy, a mini-grid developer-operator, with current projects in Benin and Zambia. He also worked as the CEO of ENGIE for Power Corner, the launch of ENGIE to develop mini-grids to provide access to electricity in rural Africa to unconnected populations. During his career as a pioneer for energy access, he has participated in rural electrification projects in more than 20 countries in Africa mainly in decentralized electrification (solar home systems, mini-grids and pumping systems) and have raised funding for projects with main DFIs and Impact Investors.

Marina BRUTINEL
Socio-economist
Marina Brutinel has been a partner since 2013 and has worked with MARGE since 2009. She is a socio-economist, specialised in energy access and sustainable development issues. Her experience ranges from evaluation to project development, including socio-economic analysis of developing countries. She has worked in Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, CAR, DRC, Rwanda, Senegal), Latin America (El Salvador, Haiti, Costa Rica) and Asia (Cambodia). For several years, she has been working on an international survey programme for the World Bank, aiming at assessing the energy access under the Multi-Tier Framework (MTF) approach.

Andrea RANZANICI
Mini-grid and Business Development Expert
Andrea has been a partner at MARGE since 2016. He holds a European Master’s degree in renewable energy and environmental engineering and management, as well as an MBA focussed on the renewable energy industry. He specialises in rural electrification project management, with a focus on humanitarian energy. His skills include project identification, development and management in collaboration with the public and private sectors, as well as technical assistance in the design of regulatory frameworks in the field of energy access.

Nicolas LIVACHE
Rural electrification expert
Partner since 2020, Nicolas joined MARGE in 2017. He has 9 years of professional experience in rural electrification, mainly in Madagascar, but also in other Sub-Saharan African countries. His skills range from technical, financial and social project management, through project identification, set-up, coordination and evaluation. His experience covers mini-grids’ design (technical, financial, social, organisational, environmental, etc.) and operation (construction, distribution and sale), as well as support to the productive use of electricity.
Master 2 in international cooperation and development, Master 1 and 2 in Renewable Energies (University of Montpellier 1), Degree in Energetics (University of South Brittany), DUT Thermal and Energy Engineering (IUT of Nantes).

Claire BOUISSIERE
Deputy Managing director. Administrative and financial manager.
Claire joined MARGE in 2013 as an administrative and financial manager. She became a partner and deputy managing director in 2020. She manages MARGE’s activities: contracts, invoicing, prospecting and preparation of bids and proposals, day-to-day administration, finance, accounting, logistics, internal/external communication, studies and research, etc. She has 18 years of professional experience in company administration and management.
Graduated from Political Sciences, Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Toulouse (France).
