Expertise
Our main area of work
Access to sustainable energy
We specialise in access to sustainable energy:
- Access to off-grid electricity mainly through:
- Sustainable energy-based mini-grids;
- Solar kits and other small-scale solutions
- Access to grid electricity by connecting mini-grids to the national grid or extending the national grid to rural and peri-urban areas.
- Access to cooking energy: promoting clean and sustainable cooking solutions through systems thinking, considering supply chain management, resource protection, forestry, etc.
We also work in other areas
The energy transition
We support the transition of the national energy mix in developing countries away from fossil fuels towards renewable energies.
Energy use
We support initiatives to improve the use of energy resources through greater energy efficiency, productive uses and e-mobility.
Our cross-cutting sectors
Public-private partnerships play a key role in economic and infrastructure development. The public sector must support green project developers while encouraging the emergence of a viable and sustainable market. MARGE therefore promotes close collaboration between these two sectors.
Humanitarian aid contexts have specific energy needs. MARGE provides needs assessments, system planning and organizational development for these contexts.
Health and education are two sectors in which MARGE has carried out many projects in recent years to provide reliable and sustainable energy services (hospitals, schools…).
The gender dimension is now imperative. In practice, this means taking gender into account throughout a project. The aim? To improve equity in project participation, benefits and opportunities.
