Expertise
Our main area of work
Access to electricity through sustainable energy

We specialise in access to electricity through sustainable energies: mainly off-grid electricity (mini-grids and solar kits) but also on-grid electricity.
Off-grid remains MARGE’s main expertise through :
- The design and implementation of sustainable energy-based mini-grids, with systematic use of renewable energy and/or hybrid forms
- Promoting the deployment and use of solar kits in order to provide reliable and affordable green electricity to the population
Grid electrification aims at connecting mini-grids to the national grid or extending it in rural and peri-urban areas.
We also work in other areas
Clean cooking and fuel supply chains
We address issues related to cooking energy by promoting sustainable cooking solutions (improved stoves) and by considering the sector as a whole (wood energy management, forest preservation, etc.).
Energy efficiency
We support energy efficiency as one of the most effective ways to reduce consumption and environmental impacts.
Our cross-cutting sectors
The productive use of energy enables sustainable economic development and empowers people through income-generating activities.
The gender dimension is now imperative. In practice, this means taking gender into account throughout a project. The aim? To improve equity in project participation, benefits and opportunities.
Public-private partnerships play a key role in economic and infrastructure development. The public sector must support green project developers while encouraging the emergence of a viable and sustainable market. MARGE therefore promotes close collaboration between these two sectors.
Health and education are two sectors in which MARGE has carried out many projects in recent years to provide reliable and sustainable energy services (hospitals, schools…).
