The FCDO’s Transforming Humanitarian Energy Access (THEA) programme, implemented by Mercy Corps in partnership with the Global Platform for Action (GPA) and Ashden, is focused on advancing clean energy access within humanitarian situations. Its goals include gathering and sharing evidence of effective practices for scaling and replication, encouraging new refugee-inclusive policies and collaborations, identifying key obstacles to expanding energy access in refugee communities, testing innovative solutions, and assisting in securing additional funding for sustainable energy projects.
MARGE contributes a Specialist Humanitarian Energy Consultant to the THEA programme. This consultant supports efforts to find, promote, and expand alternative, sustainable models for delivering energy in areas affected by forced displacement, particularly in Ethiopia, Uganda, and Somalia.
