The Brilho programme, implemented by SNV and financed by FCDO and Sida, organized a learning visit to Uganda in November 2023 for Mozambican officials and Brilho team members (including MARGE). The objective was to meet mini grid stakeholders in Uganda and learn insights and lessons that will help them shape a successful mini-grid sector in Mozambique. Indeed, Uganda has an extensive experience in the off-grid sector with 59 mini grids currently in operation and many more under preparation. During this week visit, the team conducted interviews and meetings with Ugandan public and private energy sector stakeholders and donors, visited the Kitobo island site in Lake Victoria operating a hydro/solar mini grid of 230 kW, and attended the 3-day Renewable Energy Conference 2023 (REC23, 16-18th November 2023).
