The CB MIREME/ARENE programme is a bilateral collaboration between the Governments of Mozambique and Belgium on a “Capacity Development of MIREME (Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy) and ARENE (Autoridade Reguladora de Energia)“. It aims to strengthen the partners’ institutional, organisational and staff capacity.
In association with Greenplug Engineering, MARGE is to establish a Master Plan for the development of Lubumbashi's electricity grid, enabling the electrification of the city by 2040 and based on a GIS and an electricity network software.
MARGE had to advice and support Enabel team in the development of its new portfolio of projects for Mozambique (for the period 2023-2027), more specifically in the following areas: innovative business models for mini grids and e-waste/solar waste/battery waste.
The purpose of the mission is to support Enabel in carrying out a study for the installation of a reliable, mostly renewable electricity production facility (solar energy, biomethanisation, biomass, biogas) to supply an Agropole (agro-industrial development centre) located in the region of Fatick, in Senegal.
Diagnosis of the production, supply and consumption systems of wood energy in rural and urban areas; Identification of leverage points to improve economic, social and environmental performance; identification of the processes of change that can be expected for the sector ; Define actions to reduce the pressure on wood energy markets and its effects on the environment.
MGP's goal is to reduce the barriers in the mini-grid sector and thereby create a more mature and thriving sector. The objective of this study was to do a rapid review to understand the value add of the MGP and the gaps it can fill.
The MCFA offers financial incentives to private Cooking Service Providers (electric, biogas or bioethanol stoves providers, briquette/pellet stoves providers, …) selected through a two-stage competitive Call for Proposals. MARGE participated in the evaluation of the final applications.
MARGE is to conduct a market study on mini-grids in rural areas, including schools and health centres. This includes a literature review, an ecosystem mapping, a field survey, followed by an action plan on deployment strategy.
The Rhyviere II programme's objective is to improve the access of populations to modern and sustainable energy services and to develop viable economic activities through electrification. MARGE was in charge of the final evaluation of the project.
In consortium with CPCS (lead), MARGE is participating in a renewable energy jobs assessment in the Central African Republic for the World Bank.
