DFID Mozambique project aims to increase access to energy in Mozambique for 1.5 million people and 15,000 businesses and to mobilise £20 million of private finance over the next five years. MARGE is supporting component 4 of the project: Policy Reform and Institutional Strengthening.
The Get.invest Finance Catalyst project supports renewable energy project developers in sub-Saharan Africa by providing free advisory services to develop their projects to financial close. The Finance Catalyst supports a wide variety of projects– on-grid and off-grid – ranging from projects with off-take agreements to companies providing consumer systems.
Support to the Garamba Park for the identification of the market for solar lanterns and kits on the one hand and mini-grids on the other hand, the identification and selection of private partners, the support to the feasibility studies, in particular for the mini-grid component, the development of financing mechanisms for the private partners, the monitoring of the work, the support to the verification of the results obtained on the ground, etc.
MARGE has been supporting Enabel since 2020 in setting up cold storage rooms in Guinea. After an initial diagnostic phase in 2020, MARGE drew up the technical specifications for the systems and monitored the construction work in 2022 and 2023. MARGE now ensures that these cold stores are properly managed and that they operate smoothly from a technical and organisational point of view.
This project aims at supporting socio-economic development in around ten sites in the Climat Sahel Portfolio by setting up solar kiosks enabling local entrepreneurs and women's groups to set up income-generating activities. The project also supports improved management of end-of-life solar equipment.
Enter Energy, developed by Mercy Corps, is a global flagship initiative aimed at powering displaced and host communities through market-based, clean, affordable and sustainable energy solutions. MARGE supports Mercy Corps in the design and implementation of a scaling and fund-raising strategy for the commercial arm of the initiative, called Humanitarian Energy.
MARGE provides technical assistance to support FUNAE and Enabel Mozambique for the supervision of the construction of 2 solar PV mini-grids with battery storage in Alto Maganha and Idugo in Zambezia Province and the commissioning and provisional acceptance of both mini-grids.
The objectives of this methodological guide are to offer decentralised and non-governmental cooperation players (NGOs, private sector and local authorities) or VSEs/SMEs a detailed methodology for capacity building in decentralised electrification projects and to have an up-to-date and reliable overview of the state of the art in this domain.
MARGE supported the development of solar kiosks in two communities hosting refugees. The kiosks are used to house productive activities and power a pump to meet the population's water needs. MARGE was in charge of sizing the solar system and carrying out an economic and financial analysis of the kiosk projects in order to demonstrate their viability.
As a subcontractor of the Artelia-Sher group, MARGE provides technical, financial and operational support. Assistance to the PMU in matters relating to the conclusion of contracts, modelling and financial monitoring of the project, monitoring of work schedules, etc.
