The mission was to assess biogas projects in South Africa to determine whether each project (i) had progressed, and to what extent, (ii) would be ready to attract external investment.

About 15 missions were concluded on various topics: sector analyses, appropriate financial support mechanisms, design of institutional framework for financial mechanisms, negotiation of terms and conditions with financial institutions, design specifications of NAMA support projects.
The overall objective of the mission was to review the existing legal and regulatory frameworks for the deployment of small-scale distributed generation and the tariff regime primarily focused on solar PV in the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector in Southern Africa.
